Kathy Christian

Hello, thank you for visiting my site. As you know my name is Kathy Christian. I was born into a military family and traveled until 1968 when my dad bought our home here in Church Hill. He was headed to Vietnam for the 3 rd time and really didn't think he would come home so he wanted to make sure we were OK. He did come back and remained here until 1990 when he passed away.

I still live in that same home he bought in 1968.  I am not comfortable talking about myself however you need to know why you should vote for me, so here goes. I am widowed with 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. I graduated from Church Hill High School in 1975 (my maiden name is Amburgey) and went on to graduated from Bristol College with a business degree.  I love to work so there isn't much I haven't done.  I have worked as a waitress, janitor, retail, factory worker, call center, financial office, and have been director of 2 nonprofits.

I am currently employed with the Church Hill Medical Mission.  I also volunteer for the American Red Cross, Somebody Loves Me, Inc., Kitchen of Hope, Shades of Grace and am on the Board of Directors for Tiny Paws Animal Sanctuary.  As you can see I have experience . I want to now serve my community in a different way.

Church Hill is my home and the perfect small town.  We have Doctors offices, grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, parks, a pool, schools and retail establishments.  Our Current City Leaders are doing a great job. The new splash pad is a good example of their forward thinking. We also have the new Urgent care in front of Food Lion.  According to Chamber of Commerce data there are 6,674 residents of Church Hill with 676 businesses. By the way, don't forget to fill out the 2020 census. It is so very important to be counted in Church Hill.

My goal as Alderman is to see us continue to grow just not too fast and not too big. I want to make sure your voices are heard regardless of who you are. Those of you who live in low income housing deserve a voice just as those of you who own your own business. Should you elect me, I will serve you with integrity and commitment. I would be honored to be your voice. If you have any questions or would like to talk feel free to contact me.

Myself, Buc Tipton and James Grigsby were sworn in as Church Hill alderman on November 17, 2020. Although James and Buc have served previously, this is my first term. I am so excited (and yes a bit nervous) to take over for long time Alderwoman Linda Miller who has been in service with the board for 13 years.

I am very pleased to see as I read my first reports that Church Hill is financially sound. I want to see that continue and actually grow. Please know I am available to speak to you at your convenience. I desire to hear your suggestions on how to make that happen. Thank you for your support.  Happy Thanksgiving ya'll!
